This April 2005 (CS2 Compatibility) update for Adobe® InDesign® CS 3.0.1 software provides key fixes that allow users to open InDesign Interchange (INX) format files exported from InDesign CS2 in InDesign CS. Other fixes cover the following areas: Text & Fonts, Styles, Document Setup, Bridge Workflow for use with InCopy CS, Graphics, Hyperlinks, Links, Printing, Page Items, Info Palette, PDF Export, Bookmarks, Layout, Conversion, Indexing, and others. For more information, refer to the Adobe InDesign CS 3.0.1 ReadMe file. To determine whether you have already installed this update, review this technical document.
For InDesign CS2 upgrade information, visit the Adobe Store.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
Due to INX file format changes, older InDesign CS 3.0.1 INX files will not open in a version that has the InDesign CS 3.0.1 April 2005 (CS2 Compatibility) update applied. Before applying this update, open any of your existing CS INX files in a version of InDesign CS that does not have the April 2005 update applied, and save them out as INDD files so they can be opened after the update is installed.
This update enables the Save Back workflow only from InDesign CS2 to InDesign CS. InDesign 2.x will not open InDesign CS or InDesign CS2 INX files.
This April 2005 update includes fixes from the original InDesign CS 3.0.1 updates (posted in March 2004 and August 2004), as well as new fixes. Users who installed the original updates will need to install the April 2005 version in order to receive the new fixes. The original updates are no longer available separately.
